HELEN CHERRY
Well-known for her eye for detail and extravagant fabrics, Helen started her fashion career working for Zambesi as a pattern assistant in 1981. She then teamed up with her husband to work at the designer RCM in 1986, focusing on their "Streetlife" collection.Cherry later went on to render her own line in 1997 followed by success with her collection being featured in Barney's New York and particular boutiques in Australia and New Zealand.Check out some of her designs to the left.I find them quite cute but also sophisticated. Definitely could use these pieces in my wardrobe![:
JIMMY LIM
Part of the newer designer crowd from New Zealand, Jimmy Lim became quickly recognized as Deutz Fashion Design Ambassador of the Year at Air New Zealand Fashion Week in 2004.With several awards under his belt, Lim has been able to cross paths with world renown shoe designer Jimmy Choo. Choo inspired Jimmy's decision to extend his brand clothing to Asia and incorporate their trends into his own designs. An interesting addition to his clothing? Horsehair. Yes from the beautiful animal that makes that 'naying' sound. It definitely makes people curious.
ASHLEY FOGEL
Driven by a husband and wife duo, Ashley Fogel is one of the most sought after brands in New Zealand. Created in 1991, Ashley and Wende Fogel combined their passion and creative minds to render collections based on femininity and class. They are easily inspired by European's "bold" style. In 2008, the Ashley Fogel brand was given the rare opportunity of sharing the freshly renovated David Jones Sydney flagship store with only two other designers. Love these looks from their past lines. Especially the long black cardigan + colorful dress+black boots!!
Hope you learned about a new designer you had never heard about before.
Bye for now fashobs!! :)
